Sub-subcontractors/laborers must provide written notice to prime contractor before work begins
File by:
GC: 60 days after Notice of Termination; Others: 30 days after Notice of Termination recorded
Enforce by:
1 year after filing statement of claim
Where found:
La. R.S. §§ 9:4801 et seq. (Private Works Act)
File a statement of claim or privilege with the Clerk of Court in the parish where the property is located. Uses privilege system under the Private Works Act. Must include amount claimed, property description, and name of owner.
Louisiana uses privilege (not lien) terminology.
